Voting Republican Leaves Blood on Your Hands…
September 11, 2007 by IrishSpacemonk
Beware. What follows is an IrishSpacemonk soapbox moment (as if this entire blog isn’t).
Okay - you’ve been fairly warned.
Let me begin by explaining that every time I’m reminded we are at war in Iraq (which is just about every day) I’m also reminded that twice, half of America voted for the man in office that put us in this quagmire. And I’m confused by polls that show a majority of American’s think Iraq was a mistake, and yet we still remain at war, with no calls for impeachment for Bush or Cheney, despite obvious crimes.
I’ve always felt that anyone who voted for Bush in both elections should feel a heavy burden for every death, both US and Iraqi. And I’m sure most do. But it’s time to take that burden and sorrow beyond supporting the economy through consumerism and take real action. And the most simple step any Republican can take is vote Democrat in 2008.
Of course, if you’ve read this far, it’s very likely your not a Republican, and this post is just one of many useless soapbox moments.
Nice Nate.
So … who should feel a heavy burden for all of the lives that were taken fighting for our freedom? Should we?
Or what about all of the lives that were taken on 9/11? Who should have the burden for that? Honestly, there is no proof that we have anything to do with that except for when we had Osama in our sights and SOMEONE told us not to do anything … just let him go. That’s the person who should have the burden of all of this because if Osama was gone a long time ago … this wouldn’t have happened.
This isn’t Bush’s fault. If you are going to read “facts” then you need to read both sides - not just one.
No I’m not a Bush lover, but I’m also not a Bush hater. I believe he’s done some goods things, along with bad things.
I will leave it at that.
Danielle, I’m confused. First, I never mention once that I felt like fighting to defend our country was wrong, or that any guilt should be felt by those that have fought honorably for the people they serve. However your comment is proof that the Republicans were able to make the false tie that fighting in Iraq defended us from the root causes of 9/11, which it didn’t. 9/11, the terrorist group ran by Osama Bin Laden, and Iraq have nothing in common.
I’m assuming by SOMEONE you are referring to Barack Obama?? Or are you actually referring to Bush, who, when we had Bin Laden in our sights, instead diverted our attention to an unjustified war.
And I’m sorry, but if you still vote Republican after being taken by this swindle, then yes, there is, in some respect, blood on your hands, or at least a pigmented stain on your finger as proof of your vote.
