18 Million Supporters Should Buck up a Couple Bucks

August 18, 2008

Few things get my ire up than illogical stupidity. Perhaps this is why I never jived with the Hillary Campaign. Reading on CNN just now, Lynn Forrester, one of Clinton’s billionaire backers said, “He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama. Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It’s ungracious.” This is the same Lynn Forrester de Rothchild (wow, not that’s an elitist name) that set up the website, togther4us.com, a site that basically is a protest against Obama. And now she has the gall to complain about Clinton debt?

You know, Lynn, your right. If everyone one of Hillary’s 18 million supporters gave a buck, her debt would be gone…no wait, she had a lot of debt. A ton of debt. She’d need two bucks…

You see, my point is that all those that kept telling her, keep in the race, keep in the race - you’re the ones that have an obligation, not Obama. The Clinton’s have done nothing to help Obama.

Get over it. Major WTF.

My Guess for VP - Which Looks Better on a Sticker

August 18, 2008

This might be a silly way to choose a Vice President, but I actually think there’s something to it. The top three candidates are my short-list. Obama is set announce his VP choice sometime this week, and maybe as soon as tomorrow (I hope to be one of those first to know since I signed up for text messages - at least I better.)

So looking down the list of Joe Biden, Tim Kaine, and Evan Bayh, I’d have to say the only one that really works for me is Tim Kaine. Obama/Bayh looks too much like, Obama, Bye Bye and not really the message you want to get yourself into the white house. Obama Biden, sounds like Biden his time. I like the Obama Kaine, raising cain. It resonates for the call for change. Plus he comes from Virginia (a red state that’s turning purple), he may help appeal to the elusive white male vote that seems scared of Obama, and he’s an outsider - going with the change theme.

So there’s my pick using the bumper sticker test. What’s yours?

A Closer Look at McCain’s Top 3 Faux Advisors

August 18, 2008

The myth of the McCain Maverick is really a cover for a man terribly unsure of where he really stands. This was evident on Saturday at the Saddle Back Forum, when McCain rattled off his three advisers he’d call on and trust their wisdom. A closer look at this list of three brings out the WTF in all of us.

From left to right:

1. General David Petraeus: This was a gimme, considering McCain’s love fest with war. And its one of the wise people he mentioned that I no doubt would expect him to actually have in a McCain White House. My problem with Petraeus is that he tells leaders what they want to hear (the reason he’s so well liked by McCain), and that’s the exact mentality that got us into the mess of Iraq in the first place.

And now for the two total pandering “wise” advisers mentioned by McCain:

2. Rep. John Lewis: I have all respect for John Lewis, but this was so obviously an attempt to pander at the one demographic Obama has locked up that it’s surprising that he even tried. First, McCain has been a champion against civil rights more often then a champion for civil rights, by opposing the MLK Holiday, both nationally and in Arizona. But it’s also striking because John Lewis is a democrat who doesn’t even advise McCain in any way today, despite both serving in Congress for over 20 years together.

3. Meg Whitman, Ebay: Obviously an appeal to Hillary Clinton supporters, I get the feeling that McCain floated Meg Whitman’s name, if only to test her name in the VP waters, after getting backlash from his base on Ted Strickland, the pro-choice governor. Plus, she provides an insight into McCain’s economic vision for America…while you’ll never make it rich, by his standard of $5 million, you could join the 1.3 million currently making a living off eBay.

McCain Chases Obama…Excuse Me, Osama to the Gates of Hell

August 18, 2008

On Saturday at the Saddle Back Forum with Rick Warren, McCain responded to how he’d deal with “evil” in true Bush fashion by bluntly stating…”I’ll follow him (sic Osama Bin Laden) to the gates of hell”. Obama answered more generally, considering all evil, such as the evil of AIDS, genocide, war, sex trade, spousal abuse, child abuse, torture … but I guess to Evangelicals there’s only one, no two types of evil: terrorism and abortion. But I digress.

It’s only a matter of time before McCain slips and refers to Obama as Osama. I know, because I even do it, and I’m one of Obama’s biggest fans. The point of this cartoon though, is not that it’s easy to slip and say Osama, or a get borders confused, or forget about countries that no longer exist. No, it’s more about the insinuations and smears that McCain will sit back and idly let happen. It’s a disgrace but for some reason, despite gaff after gaff, McCain gets a pass from the press and the public. They’re probably thinking, come on, he’s an old guy, cut him some slack.

I hope you enjoy.
